about the author

Victor Grieco

Victor Grieco was raised in Canada’s largest city: Toronto Ontario. As a young man, he lived through the anti-establishment revolution, but ultimately dedicated his life to following Jesus Christ which led to  training for Christian service, spending more than two decades as a minister in Ontario Canada. This gave Victor the opportunity to help young people, as a minister of youth, and later, adults as a senior pastor, exposing him to a variety of human need, suffering, accomplishment, joy, and sorrow. In 1999 Victor resigned his work in the pastorate “in good standing”.

In the first quarter of 2000, Victor Grieco entered the financial services field where he attained designations as a Certified Financial Planning professional (CFP), an Elder Planning Counsellor (EPC) and most recently as a Master Financial Advisor–Philanthropy (MFA-P). During the next two decades, he built a financial services company managing over $96,000,000 in assets for his clients prior to selling the company to one of his employees.

In the years following his transition from pastoral ministry to the financial services industry, Victor went through a dark period of spiritual disenchantment, which in turn led to a season of living for “me, myself and I”.  Ultimately, he realized life without purpose, lived only for selfish endeavor, leads to despairing cynicism.

Victor also recognized that he was not alone in his expedition of self-centered living.  Wherever he travelled he noticed others that embraced a narcissistic lifestyle. Ironically, Victor also noticed some similarities in the authors of ancient Biblical text: Two great men: King Solomon and St. Paul, both experienced purposeless living, one who never pulled out of self centeredness, the other who did; and both writing about their contrasting views of life.

Gold, silver, precious stones, and the treasures of kings did not suffice to bring peace and contentment to Solomon; instead, filled with despair, he bemoaned life, the afterlife and the futility of life devoid of purpose. In contrast, Paul a prisoner of the Roman Empire, wrote of great soul-peace! This wise person found every day fulfilling!  He was so settled in his personal accomplishments he lost all fear of death, making claims that an afterlife was his to anticipate.

In this artistic offering, Victor shares lessons learned from church life, business, family life, and the writings of ancients renowned for their wisdom.
